My Way To Phase 2 and Learning Excel

Excel Knowledge

In phase 2, Microsoft Excel and URL Components & Social Engineering, I struggle. At the beginning of Excel, I didn't know anything. I feel a little strange since I didn't know anything about it, even thought the were some tools similar to Word. Excel Function was one thing that I struggled with at the beginning i didnt knew nothing about the Excel functions. I thought that it would be complicated for me. After learning some Excel functions in 1-2 days, I kept forgetting them. So I decided to take notes and practice it in Excel outside of labsim. For the A6 Spread Analysis with trailer, I feel that it was a very good assignment for me; it helped me gain more knowledge on Excel. But also, I struggle to complete A6; I struggle with the conditional formatting. Overall, in Phase 2, I think I performed better than in Phase 1. I applied to myself a better learning way, such as studying, reviewing, and going over labsim.

5.2.5 Online data

Online data is information stored on the internet that can be accessed, collected, and updated through sources such as websites, databases, and web services. This type of data includes statistics, lists, charts, and real-time updates from sources such as social media, news sites, and public records. In programs like Excel, online data can be imported directly from a website, allowing users to analyze and organize it without manually copying and pasting. One key advantage of online data is that it can be refreshed automatically, ensuring that the information stays current and accurate for ongoing use.

Outside IS101

What I learned in Phase 2 of IS101-3003/5, Spring 2026, I plan to apply what I learned in MO 210 Excel for budgeting, expenses manage task, and side hustle. I used to use Excel to track my expenses for profit and losses for my side hustle, but I always used to use other people's templates. With what I learned in Phase 2 MO 210 Excel, I will use that knowledge and practice to also apply it to my reseller side hustle. Also, I want to share that I learned many things that I couldn’t have imagined. Working on phase 2, especially MO-210, I learned Excel functions which definitely i will definitely try and practice more.

My Plan

In Phase 3, to succeed, I need to upgrade my mindset and focus more on habits that will benefit me. I feel that to take this action of succeeding, I need to manage my time better to complete any assignment or work not only in IS101 but also outside of IS101. So far in phase 3, I'm doing pretty well.

  1. Hi Mizrain, your reflection captured something a lot of students probably experienced during Phase 2, especially the feeling of struggling with Excel at first and slowly becoming more comfortable through practice. It takes patience to keep reviewing functions and repeating LabSim exercises until everything finally starts making sense. The fact that you noticed improvement compared to Phase 1 shows that your studying methods and effort were actually working, even when the assignments became difficult.

It was also interesting how you connected Excel to your reseller side hustle because that makes the class feel more connected to real life instead of just schoolwork. Learning how to organize budgets, expenses, and data is honestly one of the most useful things from IS101. Your focus on improving habits and staying consistent for Phase 3 also sounds like a solid plan because this class really rewards people who keep practicing instead of giving up after mistakes.

  4. Hi Mizrain, what side hustle are you working on? I also found Excel to be useful with budgeting, I started tracking my expenses and it's been pretty eye opening and fun.

  5. I completely forgot about the chapter that you mentioned which is Online Data. I was fascinated by the idea of it and I completely forgot about how important and useful it is when reading data online. I'll keep that in mind again incase I need it. Automatically updates is also a plus since I hate manually updating everything in my spreadsheet. More power to Phase 3 and finish it with flying colors!

  6. Hello Mizrain. I also didn't know anything about excel in the beginning, so I understand the struggle. It's great that you were able to apply and improve your study habits, and that it's helped you improve. I hope all goes well in your side hustle!

  8. Hello Mizrain, I also had to take a small step back and start taking notes on excel functions and formulas! In the end repetition and practice helped me truly grasp all the new information this phase introduced.

  9. Mizrain, I like how you talked about going from barely knowing Excel to actually using it for your side hustle and budgeting. That honestly shows a lot of improvement. Conditional formatting was confusing at first for me too.

  10. Hi Mizrain, that's really cool that you have a side hustle and now you have the tools to organize your money better. It is really inspiring to be able to make your own charts and not have to rely on templates because even when it comes to resumes sometimes templates can get easily messed up with one backspace or too much information.

  11. Hi Mizrain. Taking notes and practicing on the CompTIA labs are helpful tips. What helped me with remembering functions is writing down what functions that I easily forget about. I would then review those functions and return to tasks involving those functions without looking back at the notes.

  12. Mizrain it's great to see that as you struggled you went outside the box and prepared notes for yourself while practicing outside the usual means. It speaks of how your willing to learn regardless of the challenge I wonder for myself if I did the same could I have scored higher than my original.

  17. Hey Mizrain, good job keeping up with all the assignments, yes I agree Phase I was a lot easier than Phase II however it was a good foundation to use because Excel can be very complex and luckily we started with Microsoft Word. Have a good one and hope all goes well!
