My Path and Experience in IS101

Phase 1 of IS101

I think that Phase 1 of IS101-3003/5, Spring 2026, has been terrible so far for me because I keep falling behind. Although I have been working on the MO-110 Word certification exam, studying and reviewing all to pass with a perfect score. I believe that in the future phase, I will set myself a time management plan and a schedule to keep time with my work. I feel like there is more to learn. I learned that phase 1 of IS101 can be difficult if you don't really put the work into it. So, in the second phase, I decided to change so many things so I can improve. My study habits are great, but the only thing that I lack is time management. I feel like I don't really have a set time to work on the assignment for IS101.

4.6.2 Spelling Checking

Microsoft Word has a feature called "Spell Check," which provides users with an option to check for spelling and grammar errors in a document while the user is typing. Word will underline any word that it seems to be misspelled in red or a potential error that it indicates an error. Also, if a grammar shows in blue, this means that it needs to be corrected to the correct word. You can easily fix this by simply right-clicking on the underlined word or phrase, and you can choose from suggested corrections to fix the error quickly. While you use the spell check as you are typing, you also have the option to run a complete spelling and grammar check of your document using the Review tab at the end of the document. Although using the spell-checking feature of Microsoft Word is very helpful in identifying some common errors you have made, it is still essential to proofread your paper carefully to ensure that everything is correct and clear.

My way through the MOS exam

Well, the MO-110 Word certification exam has already pass, what I did to prepare to take this exam was studying the entire course of C.0 MOS 365 App Practice exams. What really helped me the most was Forms A and B of the Microsoft Word Practice. It really gave me an idea of how the exam was going to look. Also, with the C.1 Preparing for MOS Certification, after completing each task, I really notice what I need to practice to be prepared for my MOS exam. Even though I was nervous to take the exam, I knew that if I practiced a lot and put effort to eventually all my hard work was going to pay off. I'm one of those people who believe that if you put in the work, you will accomplish everything you want.

Something to the Worldwide Web

I wanted to share something about me that I do on a daily basis. I've been practicing a lot of editing. I started 4 months ago, and I feel like my progress has been a little slow, even though I practice every day I still don't feel the progress that I want. I started in Davinci Resolve since this app is free for editors, even though I hear it's not the best, I still use it because it's free. I eventually want to upgrade to a better version, weather is After Effects or Premiere, I still don't know which one is better. But I make sure I do more research before switching into these platforms.

  1. Hi Mizrain, I appreciate how honest you were about your struggles in Phase 1, that actually takes a lot more effort than just pretending everything is fine. I can relate to what you said about time management, because even if we understand the material, not having enough time really mess things up. It’s good that you already recognized that as the main issue, since that’s something you can actually fix moving forward.

I also like how you explained Spell Check, simple but clear, and you didn’t just rely on it blindly, which is important. Your MOS exam preparation sounds solid too, especially using Forms A and B since that’s what helped me the most as well.

The part about editing videos was interesting, it shows you’re learning skills outside of class too. It honestly just sounds like you already know what to adjust, especially with time management.

  2. Yes, practices Form A and Form B definitely help you preparing for the actual exam, but what lays the foundation for Forms A & B are the lessons, skill exercises, and laboratory challenges :-)

You will manage your time and energy and perform better Phase 2 of IS101-3003, Spring 2026, Mizrain!

  3. Hi Mizrain. I'm sorry to hear that Phase 1 wasn't going too well for you, I'm sure you'll be able to figure out how to manage your time. I'm glad that you mentioned that it's important to proof read what you've written even after using spellcheck. Sometimes the spellcheck interprets the words differently to how either I would say them or just maybe a little incorrectly. Everyone progresses at a different speed, it's all good as long as you're progressing. I've heard good things about Davinci Resolve, I think I tried to download it to edit picture once but my computer couldn't handle it at the time.

  4. it’s normal to struggle with time management in the beginning, and recognizing it is already a good step forward. It sounds like you prepared well for the MO-110 by practicing with the materials and exams, which definitely helps build confidence.

  5. I believe you should find it encouraging knowing you know how to prepare and study for the next phase which will give you better results. Understanding what to do and when to do it now is the best step in the direction of what you are trying to achieve. Best of luck to you!

  6. Hey Mizrain, yes the practice exams definitely helped a lot for me too, because it's very similar to the actual exam. Especially since there is a time limit, the practice exams helps keep me aware of whether I'm spending too long on a question, which is something that I'd admit doing. Also I have done some editing in the past and it's pretty fun. I used to edit videos on HitFilm of video games and gameplay. Have a great rest of the semester!

  7. Hi Mizrain, you are not alone, it seems like basically everyone has either fallen behind at some point or is done with the class not much middle ground. Spell check is my best friend because sometimes I just type without really paying attention and it always directs me back to my mistakes. Editing is a very cool skill even if you do it just as a hobby people will pay you for small jobs.

  8. Hi Mizrain. I like that you are self-reflecting on what has been going on in IS101 for you. I also like your plan of giving yourself a schedule to help yourself stay caught up with the work in class. That will truly help you give yourself an idea of how much work that you want to accomplish during the week.

  9. Hello Mizrain, time management has truly been the most important factor in being successful in classes. I was also guilty of sometimes leaving what I considered easy work for the very end and had to catch up, implementing a new schedule has helped a lot.

  10. Hi Mizrain, editing is definitely a useful skill in today's world. I took a film class in high school where we used Davinci Resolve and Premiere Pro. I think for most cases, Davinci gets the job done but Premiere Pro was a better experience. Either way, it's mostly about practice and experience that will help you improve your editing skills, so I would just save your money and stick with Davinici.

  11. Hi Mizrain! Don't get too down on yourself for falling behind! I know I definitely fallen behind myself too. What matters is not that you've fallen behind, but that you pick yourself up and do your best in the future! You don't dig up a seed you have just planted to see if it has grown!

  12. It's true that when we don't pay much attention to the content, it can be overwhelming. We always have to think about the future, you can do it.

  13. Hi Mizrain, the good thing is you already know what you need to improve, and I’m sure you’ll succeed. The spell checker is super helpful for me too; I use it all the time. Also, now you’ve got me wanting to try out DaVinci Resolve as well.

  14. Slow progress is still progress, remember that. It may not be pace that you want but it's better to do something than nothing, so don't feel to bad about the progress you're making. For the editing software side, I used both and DaVinci Resolve is good enough if you are starting out on editing but if you want industry standard, Adobe products are better starting point. It costs a lot but I think if you use your student email you can have a significant price cut. Premier has more compatibility in effect add ons along with After Effects cause they work together. However DaVinci Resolve is amazing at color correction if you're into that. Just a little idea since I have used them before.

  15. I thought it was cool that you shared your editing journey at the end. Starting with DaVinci Resolve is honestly a solid choice, especially since a lot of creators use it professionally too. Also, I respect that even after struggling with time management, you’re still focused on improving and putting in the effort.

  16. Hi Mizrain, I liked your reflection on recognizing time management as your main challenge and being honest about where you want to improve.

  17. Hey Mizrain, as long as we understand how to get on track from where we are to where we want to be; That's all that matters, the next part is to lock in and get to it!

  18. Hey Mizrain! Just wanted to say I admire how courageous you were to present your A8 for us, saturday morning students! Also, practicing a lot of editing sounds very interesting. It's alright to start with something that is free and not instantly the best. You can always upgrade to a better one once you've made sure this is an interest of yours that is going to last long and not just something you'd eventually get bored of. Good luck with your editing journey!
