Hello, my name is Mizrain Perez Claudio, I'm 19 years old, and I'm in my 2nd semester at CSN. I'm a very passionate young man who likes to challenge myself against every obstacle that comes my way in my lifetime. At CSN, I'm seeking my associate's degree in Construction Management and Technology. Me Mizrain Perez Claudio, I believe in personal growth and a growth mindset. For me, this is very important because I can develop new skills and learn more about myself physically, spiritually, or socially. Some of my favorite hobbies that I really enjoy while I'm not studying are walking, learning skills, and playing video games.
First impression of IS101
At the beginning of the semester, I was with my academic advisor; she advised me of some classes that I indeed wanted to take, but looking at the course name IS101 caught my attention. I went to Google and searched, "What is IS101?" After doing my research, I learned that this course was mostly going to be about the basic computer concepts, applications, the internet, and security. Although I enrolled in IS101 late, I really enjoy being in this class because I learn about MOS skills. When I enrolled with Professor Wu, the first day he sent me an email and told me that I enrolled on the last day. Professor Wu interviewed me on why I enrolled on the last day. I responded that my academic advisor told me that IS101 was a class that I needed to take to ensure that I have a very good foundation in computers. With his help, this class has been a good environment for me, with Professor Wu always checking on the students' progress, which makes it better for the professor and the students.
1.4.1 Computer Risk
Computers are mainly the target of cybersecurity cameras. Most of these cybersecurity criminals collect personal information, which can include your house address, email address, your phone number, credit cards, or bank account. Some of the security mechanisms that you can use are firewalls, anti-malware software, and anti-spam software. With this package of security mechanisms, we can know the risk of getting viruses and phishing attacks. There's another computer security risk when we talk about exposing computers and storage devices. When we replace a new system or dispose of a computer part. We need to dispose of them in a manner that prevents sensitive data from being exposed. Wiping the software date and destroying the hard disk to make it inaccessible.
Something that I would share about myself
I'm a very confusing person, and my energy can depend on how my day is going. But aside from that, I'm a very nice guy. I have this goal that I started in November of 2025, which is journaling about myself at least 1 or 2 times a week. So far, I only missed one week, which I'm really upset about, aside from that I have been very consistent. I feel that I have too many things to say about myself. I'm a very shy and awkward guy when I meet you or when you meet me. Once I get to know you for a long time, I get my confidence and speak to you about anything. Yes, this is something that I like to share with y'all.

Hi Mizrain, your section about computer risk really made me think about how paranoid I can be with devices. Sometimes I catch myself staring at my phone or laptop camera and wondering if someone could turn it on without me knowing. I even think about voice assistants like Alexa or Siri and question if they are constantly listening in the background. I know some of it might just be overthinking, but the concern is still there. That is why learning about firewalls, encryption, and security tools actually gives me some peace of mind. Understanding how these systems work makes technology feel less mysterious. At the same time, I try not to let paranoia control how I use my devices. Being aware is good, but I also want to use technology without constantly feeling watched.

I agree with you about Professor Wu creating a supportive environment in the class and checking on students’ progress. I also think it’s very important that everyone has a good foundation in computers nowadays. Your point about computer risks and protecting personal information was also very important. It’s also interesting that you started journaling and have been consistent with it. Why did you choose to start journaling about yourself, and what do you think has changed since you started?

I am on the same boat on you when it comes to being shy around other people before I meet them and confident when we get to know each other. Nice to thing to share as I can relate to people in that sense. I am also interested about what you said about computer risks. A lot of times, people just throw away things without thinking their information is still there and people might use it in a negative way. As a Cybersecurity degree seeking student, I appreciate your awareness in this type of things!
ReplyDeleteHello Mizrain, being able to grow as a person is a great trait to have. It is very critical to have the knowledge of knowing when someone on the internet is trying to scam you, or take your data. Knowing how to properly protect your personal information is vital. Journaling is a good hobby to practice introspection. Most of the time I only journal when something interesting is happening.

ReplyDeleteI think that computer security threats and ways to reduce risks from these problems is important. I sometimes get messages from McAfee that I may have a virus on my computer. I am glad to have knowledge about the different types of software security systems to reduce risks from viruses and other cyberthreats.

That mindset is really important in college because a lot of the time you’re learning new skills and figuring things out as you go. You follow suit with those words with actions. Journaling isn't something openly recommended yet you take that time once a week to do just that. I had difficulties in staying consistent in journaling myself. I commend you!
ReplyDeleteHi Mizrain, I hope everything you're pursuing now is going your way about your education of construction/management technology. Does it have to do with obtaining a position as a higher up in construction? If so, I hope you do well. Computer risks are to be on lookout for because we use devices like these to get work done and even play. Being on the lookout would look like, not responding to suspicious emails like spam, defending off viruses with anti-virus tools and programs and much more. I'm glad someone is understanding the risks and what is at risk at the user end with what's out to get you on the internet.

Journaling is very fun because you get to read back on these things after years, and see how far you've come and improved. ReplyDeleteHello Mizrain, I believe that it's okay to be confusing or shy one day and bouncing off the walls the next. You keep people guessing and that makes you interesting! Also, as far as journaling goes, missing one week that is like going on vacation, everyone needs a break sometimes. I have thought about journaling as an adult since I used to as a child and I haven't even started so don't beat yourself up. Playing video games, walking and learning new skills those are awesome hobbies! I love DBD and Marvels!

I use to journal almost everyday growing up. I stopped for a while when I started my college journey years ago. I just started journaling again this past week consistently.
